Wick Cottage was once two separate 18th and 19th century cottages, linked together in an unsympathetic manner in the 1960s. Our brief was to create a single, stylish and comfortable new home conducive to modern living. We reconfigured the existing layout to create a sequence of large, elegant rooms, with an enhanced relationship between the interior and the beautiful surrounding valley landscape.

We retained as much of the original stone and timber structure as possible, with contemporary details such as the cantilevered staircase, wide boarded floors, furniture and light fittings installed using traditional materials that work well with the natural rustic quality of the building’s exterior.
A second phase of work, five years after the initial project created a new extension with two additional first floor bedrooms, and ground floor entertaining space

The character of the original architecture has been carefully repaired and revealed to create a unique and contemporary home. A second phase of work, five years after the initial project created a new extension with two additional first floor bedrooms, and ground floor entertaining space. Housed within an oak-framed barn-like structure using corrugated iron and oak board cladding, the extension combined contemporary design with a rustic appearance.
