17 Princelet Street is a contemporary steel and glass extension to a Grade II listed 18th Century Georgian townhouse in Spitalfields, East London, providing the family home with a new kitchen and dining space.
Incorporating a simple pitched form and clever use of structural glazing as a roof, the transparent design ensures views of the characterful rear of the property are retained.
Large custom pivot doors open the extension up to the garden, and the steel frame and glazing frames have been painted to match the existing sash windows.
New internal brick walls against the rear of the house and the flanking garden walls also preserve the sense of a brick walled townhouse garden.
