The Old Maltings were constructed in 1900 as part of the original brewery by Hall & Woodhouse Ltd, an independent family brewer that has been brewing in Dorset since 1777. H&W have more recently built a new, more compact and sustainable brewing operation on the site. This project therefore comprises the redevelopment of the now redundant Maltings buildings to provide office accommodation for the entire workforce of about 100 people, thereby allowing the remainder of the site to be released for other uses. The project also comprises the refurbishment of the existing visitors centre and brewery shop and the creation of a new reception, training kitchen and conference facilities.

The various existing buildings have all been carefully refurbished and linked with a new modern circulation tower that accesses all the disparate levels of the old buildings, thereby preserving and enhancing the historic buildings and the company’s heritage while forming an iconic symbol of a progressive and successful family business.
